MAKING THE LOCAL CHURCH OPEN AND WELCOMING
Making the local church open and welcoming – experimenting with unusual campaigns, initiatives and places – creating spaces for faith in the living and pastoral environment: Associations, parishes and schools that pursue this goal now receive substantial support from the Bonifatiuswerk. The new project "Creating spaces for faith" promotes innovative missionary initiatives throughout Germany with a package consisting of budget, networking, evaluation and public relations work. Applicants have been able to apply for funding since September 2019; the project must be completed by spring 2022.
"With 'Creating spaces for faith' we want to inject new momentum into the missionary awakening in the Church," says Daniel Born, consultant for the project in the Bonifatiuswerk. "Many parishes and dioceses are trying out new ways to put people in touch with the Gospel – we want to support this." A private foundation provides the Bonifatiuswerk with the funds for the new project. The Centre for Applied Pastoral Research (zap) in Bochum was secured as an evaluation partner.
"We would like to strongly encourage all creative project groups to apply for funding," said Daniel Born. "Whether the focus is on liturgy, diaconal work, proclamation or community building – many projects are eligible for funding."
