The Church needs a breath of fresh air. To help make this happen, the Bonifatiuswerk of German Catholics launched the nationwide "Creating spaces for faith" support programme in 2019 in cooperation with the global charity Porticus and the Centre for Applied Pastoral Research (Zentrum für angewandte Pastoralforschung – zap). Since then, more than 20 projects have been sponsored that create access to the essence of faith in an innovative and creative way and address ways of sharing faith. The three-year program will now be extended until March 2023.

With the “Creating spaces for faith” support programme, the Bonifatiuswerk seeks and sponsors innovative missionary projects across Germany and thus addresses the current social and ecclesiastical changes and challenges.

New offers for young people

The “Work – Life – Spirit” ecumenical initiative in the Diocese of Hildesheim is funded with 5,500 euros and shows what being a Christian can look like in the workplace today. The Parish of St. Paulus in Göttingen has developed new offers for young people together with ecumenical partners from various other parishes in Göttingen. Different evening events and monthly after-work meetings with inspirational ideas create attractive access to a spiritual home and refreshing experiences of faith.

Volunteer support programme

The Lazarus Services in Stralsund support people in need of help. The volunteer support programme of the Catholic Parish of St. Bernhard Stralsund-Rügen-Demmin is carried out in cooperation with the Caritas Hospice Service and the Archdiocese of Berlin and financially supported by the Bonifatiuswerk for two years with 17,900 euros. Around 80 volunteers support people in challenging circumstances in their lives.
